What makes this different than the adventure races out there?
The FITNESS RAMPAGE isn’t just a race with obstacle courses based off of time.  It is an all-around fitness challenge specifically developed to challenge all of your physical fitness skills and promote team training for overall health and wellness.  So you can’t be abandoned by your teammates, they are depending on you, just like you are depending on them, to try their best.  Your individual performance contributes to an overall team score that is scaled based on your average team age and individual genders.

How Many People are on a RAMPAGE team?
4 players per team.  There are men’s, women’s, and coed divisions.  There are point handicaps for average team age and gender to help level the playing field.

Do I have to drink beer at this?
No.  However for events involving these types of challenges you will need to drink a carbonated beverage that is non-alcoholic.

How can I prepare for the challenge?
Workout.  OK, so there is more than that you can do.  If you aren’t local to Manchester, we recommend doing some form of cardiovascular activity at least 3 days per week, and strength training focusing on total body movements (such as a squat, deadlift, or overhead press) at least twice a week.  Participation in recreational sports league is certainly helpful too.  You can register for any number of rec sports leagues by visiting http://nhssc.com

If you live within reasonable driving distance to Manchester, you can also signup for the NLP Fitness Bootcamp for 1 workout or unlimited workouts per week to help prepare for the FITNESS RAMPAGE.  If you register through the NHSSC you’ll also receive an exclusive discount reserved only for NHSSC members!  The Bootcamp is offered 8 times per day, 5 days per week, Mon-Fri, you can switch classes at anytime, and it works on all the different components of fitness you need to be better prepared for the RAMPAGE.   You even save money on your registration when signing up for the two (up to 50%, or $400.00)!!!  Register now!

What is the RAMPAGE about?
The  FITNESS RAMPAGE isn’t just another adventure race.  It’s about peer support, teamwork, working on all the components of fitness, and a fun competition that is age graded.  The FITNESS RAMPAGE was created to put all age groups and both men and women on an even playing field, where completing the course based on the clock is not the only objective.  There are 4 event groups and you must compete in 12 different events chosen from these 4 event groups.

What should I expect?
A fun but physically challenging contest you work through with your teammates to compete against other groups.  Events range from maximum exertion fitness tests to the vertical jump.  Being great in one area doesn’t mean you will be #1 in another event.  The RAMPAGE has been designed specifically to call out the FITNESS RAMPAGE athlete in you!

Who is this for?
People of all fitness levels and age groups, appropriate for ages 18+.  The FITNESS RAMPAGE uses a unique point scale based on both gender and age to determine your performance.  So if you compete against someone older or younger, your performance has a scaled grade to account for your differences!  This way, everyone has a chance to win regardless of age or gender.  We also encourage all participants to remember we are all here for some fun, sportsmanlike competition out to support a charity for those who are less fortunate.  Please keep this in mind, no matter how intense the competition is!

What fitness level do I need to be in?
This is not just a ‘fun-run.’  There is no mud, you will not be set on fire, and you will not be electrocuted.  There will be plenty of laughs and this is definitely a big fitness challenge.  BUT it’s not just about saying ‘I DID IT.’  It’s meant to encourage you along with your teammates to work together and improve  your life-long health through physical activity, all while helping to support a good cause.

Any fitness level can participate in the FITNESS RAMPAGE, but we encourage you to work on your strength, cardiovascular fitness, and basic overall athletic skills.   Remember some of the events require you to work with your teammates, so it’s important you support each other and show up prepared for the race!  On a side note, we really don’t recommend trying to do the FITNESS RAMPAGE under the influence of alcohol.  Tailgating is welcome, however participating in the RAMPAGE will be physically taxing…you will be very tired by the end!  Please keep in mind that open containers of alcohol are not legal outside Milly’s Tavern.  If you’re tailgating please be responsible.

How is the NLP FITNESS RAMPAGE scored?
Visit the scoring page for full details.

What Should I wear?
Comfortable clothing appropriate for exercise.  Shorts, T-shirt., sneakers.  Costume.  Some events may involve carrying weights, some people prefer weight lifting or work gloves to help protect the hands.  There will be a prize for the best costume at the end of the day.

What Should I bring?
Energy, lots of smiles, and plenty of water!

Where is the course?
Held at the NLP Strength & Conditioning Center during the fall, winter, and spring.  It is both indoors and outdoors.  The final few events are held at Murphy’s Taproom or another sponsor bar.

Where is parking, does it cost anything?
Park in the upper or lower lots of 33. S. Commercial St, directly across the street from WMUR-channel 9.  Off-street parking is also available!  Please note that the parking lot may have  some spaces marked off for some of the outdoor events.  Once you have completed your first few events the final events are held at the sports bar.  Move your vehicle if necessary to the designated parking areas set aside for that location.  Please visit the individual sports bar’s website for further details.

What do I receive on race day?
A welcome packet, t-shirt, and event list.

How early should I arrive?
You should arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled start time.

Can I compete solo or do I have to be on a team?
The race has been set up to promote team work when completing certain events, so you need to be on a team.  If you don’t have anyone else to join with you can signup as a ‘free agent’ and we will assign you to a team in need within the last two weeks!

Can other people come to the race?
Yes, spectators are welcome.  Unfortunately, as much as we like our four-legged friends, pets are not permitted at the event site at this time.

What is the refund policy?
There are no refunds for any reason whatsoever.  This is non-negotiable.  If you are unable to attend an event you may transfer your registration over to another person, but you MUST first contact us via the phone and have the transfer pre-authorized.  and tell us who is receiving the registration at least two (2) weeks before your scheduled event.  Your friend shouldn’t just show up on the day of the RAMPAGE and say “let me join for free!”

What about the weather?
The FITNESS RAMPAGE is conducted rain or shine.

Are there age restrictions?   Can I run with my kids?
At this time registrants may not be younger than the age of 18.  As per law, no person below the age of 21 will be served adult beverages.  A substitute non-alcoholic beverage will be provided where necessary.

Will my entire team go at the same time?
Yes.  The purpose of the NLP FITNESS RAMPAGE is to promote team camaraderie with a point system based on team performance and unique challenges.  You will be scheduled for a specific time and will participate with your teammates against a other teams.

How long does it take to complete the NLP FITNESS RAMPAGE?
Plan on approximately 90 minutes.  This is not a time-based, continuous race.  You will move through a specific sequence of events.   The events each stem from one of the four event groups and present their own unique challenges and measurement of your total fitness.  Remember, being good in one aspect of fitness doesn’t mean you’ll do as well in another!

When do I find out if I won?
Approximately 60 minutes after the last team has completed the NLP FITNESS RAMPAGE the final standings will be posted, printed, and announced.  This is scheduled to occur tentatively around 6pm at Murphy’s Taproom.  In the event that a team/individual is not present to receive their prize, the winnings can be picked up within 5 days of the conclusion of the event at the host bar.

How late can I stay?
As long as the bar is open.  However, the NLP Strength & Conditioning center will close after the last team has completed the RAMPAGE.
